The students at Holy Angels began Lent with the Ash Wednesday Mass and blessing with ashes. During the liturgy, each class brought up a symbol of a tool that would help them “build our relationship with Jesus”. These were placed in a toolbox which will remain as a reminder throughout these 40 days.
Back at school, each of the levels participated in a morning retreat and an opportunity to reflect on the building and growing that Lent could bring. Some grades used stories and videos to help grasp the meaning of this special season. Others searched the Scriptures for God’s message to us. Some wrote letters to the elderly of our parish.
Junior high students reflected on ways to be of service: to the community, to those in need, to the world, to our school, and through prayer.
During the Lenten Season, students will be reminded of the importance of building a stronger relationship with Jesus as they listen to something (?) being built each day with wood that students have brought to school.
