Buddies at Wade House

This year’s Big/Little Buddies Field Trip took students to the Wade House Historical Site near Greenbush.  The last time Holy Angels visited the venue, the Big Buddies were Little Buddies.  Many of them recalled the variety of venues and shared their experience with their “littles”.

The buddies visited the original attraction, the Wade House, and learned that it was the halfway stop between Sheboygan and Fond du lac (a trip by stage coach that took 11 hours during the 1800s).  Students toured the public areas of the Wade house as well as the lodging areas and the family quarters.

Other stops during the day included the blacksmith shop, lumber mill, and some time playing games from the era and making candles.

At the museum, students were able to construct a model of one of the many turn-of-the-century wagons and fire trucks on display. They then searched for the actual wagon or cart that matched their model.

Many thanks to the bus sponsors who made the day possible, and to the Big Buddies who took good care of the Little Buddies!
