When the gym floor was re-finished last summer, many people noticed for the first time that the floor boards were arranged in an odd pattern…they sort of made a circle around the floor. The reason for the strange configuration became clear as the primary and intermediate students began this year’s special unit…roller skating! The floor is laid out for a roller rink and students were able to skate smoothly without crossing planks. Two years ago, phy ed teacher Jo Busse first brought in the skate cabinets filled with various sizes of skates for each class. Students unfamiliar with roller skating must have learned well. Most students could navigate the courses and limbo-low like seasoned veterans.
