Mrs. Bishop’s second grade class has been working on a special service project for the past month. They have been collecting money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and on Wednesday night, Oct. 29th, most of the class, along with their families and Mrs. Bishop and her family, will participate in the “Light the Night” walk sponsored by Serigraph printing. All the money collected goes to the society to fund research to find cures for leukemia related diseases and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The kids got interested in this project because Adam Sanger, a new second grader this year, lost his brother Arty, three years ago to Hodgkin’s Disease. Adam shared his story with the class and also shared many pictures of his brother. Mrs. Sanger, Adam’s mom, works at Serigraph and has organized the walk there. She made sure everyone in the class and even their family members got t-shirts to wear to school on the 29th and to wear to the walk. [submitted by Room 213]
