The regular fall sports season came to an end for the Holy Angels volleyball teams with the 22nd annual Holy Angels Volleyball Classic.
The seventh grade team lost a nail-biter to St. Joseph in their pool play, 23-25, 25-22, 15-17. They also dropped their matches to Waukesha Catholic and St. Mary-Menomonee Falls resulting in a third place finish. St. Mary took top honors in the seventh grade bracket.
In the Tuesday eighth grade level pool play, HA-White defeated St. Joseph 25-17, 16-25, 15-4 but lost to Holy Trinity 20-25, 20-25, 15-3. HA-Blue dropped a three-game match to Holy Trinity 19-25, 25-16, 11-15.
On Thursday, HA-Blue came back to edge St. Joseph 22-25, 25-23, 15-8. The evening’s finale featured HA-White vs. HA-Blue. The Blue squad took the first game, 25-18. HA-White turned the tables, 25-16, to set up a third game. HA-White used strong serving to jump out to a 9-1 lead en route to a 15-6 win and a berth in the championship match against Holy Trinity, which went 3-0 in pool play.
In Saturday action, it was déjà vu as HA-Blue again defeated St. Joseph to claim third place. HA-White took second place honors, losing to Holy Trinity in the championship match.
Players, coaches and volunteers were recognized at the Fall Sports Awards Supper on October 29th as families gathered in the Walnut Room to share a meal and memories of the volleyball season. Thanks to Texas Roadhouse for providing this year’s buffet. This year’s guest alumni speaker was high school senior athlete Sydney Spaeth.
